And here I was thinking we might actually get to see Kyra Gracie in a cage sometime soon. But like all the other Gracies, they’re really good at talking, but not as great at walking. Oh, Kyra would love to fight in MMA! But she ain’t gonna do it unless she makes Gracie money:
Gracie has yet to see the sort of figures that she considers “valuable” to her future.
“I’m looking for the deal I want,” Gracie, 26, explained Monday to Sherdog.com. “We’re not making a deal that makes things worse for me. I need to step away from jiu-jitsu, even if it’s for specific periods, and focus solely on MMA. I’ll need to stop teaching seminars, for example, so it really has to be worthwhile to me. Everything is in my manager’s hands. He’s talking to Strikeforce and a promotion in Singapore, but I can’t say that they’ll make a deal this year, or even at all.”
I wonder what Gracie money means this time. Y’all will remember Royce Gracie begging to fight at UFC Rio, and then revealing he’d only fight Matt Hughes and only for a million smackeroos. Yeah, totally reasonable. And then there’s Royler Gracie, who demanded 50k to show and 25k to win for a grappling match against Eddie Bravo. A grappling match! Suffice that fell through too. Now Kyra wants crazy money too … or maybe she doesn’t. Maybe she just wants to talk about MMA and get press, then demand so much she never has to do it.
