Cain "Meximelt" Velasquez will meet his next challenge at UFC 108 when he steps into the Octagon opposite Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The 27-year-old has won five UFC fights in a row -- four via stoppage -- and was last seen tossing veteran Ben Rothwell around the cage at UFC 104. Nogueira is coming off of one of the biggest wins of his career as he was awarded a unanimous decision over Randy Couture in an exciting bout at UFC 102. The winner of this fight will absolutely, positively fight the winner of the Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin title bout which will hopefully take place on the same card, as long as Lesnar's health improves. The winners of the upcoming Dos Santos vs. Gonzaga and Mir vs. Kongo fights will find themselves at the top of the contender list once the dust is settled. Stylistically, Nogueira will be the favorite in this one. He's had much more time to develop his striking and, as such, he delivers much crisper combinations than the less-seasoned Velasquez. On the floor, Velasquez won't be able to manhandle Nogueira like he did Kongo and Rothwell, as the Brazilian is arguably the best heavyweight jiu-jitsu practicioner to ever strap on a pair of 4 oz gloves. At the same time, the former Pride champion will be facing a younger, quicker, and possibly stronger fighter with a lot to gain and little to lose. Nogueira has shown the ability to take inhuman amounts of punishment in the past and it's quite possible he'll have to do the same at UFC 108 if he wants to get his hand raised at the end of the night. It's mixed martial arts, which means it's anbody's guess who walks out with another W on their record, but this fight will absolutely be an event in and of itself. Hell, I might even put on pants for it. if cain can pull this off i will be very impressed, his game relies almost entirely on putting people on their asses then pounding them out which may not be the best course of action against big nog at the end of the day an L from big nog isnt that big of a blemish, would it be in cains best interest to keep this on the feet? i honestly don't know if he has the striking advantage and his wrestling base just leaves him very vulnerable to subs this fight makes me happy and nervous cuz i like both guys cain has to outwork nog and keep him guessing, if he gets caught up in that text book of submissions that is minataro's guard expect another crazy late round triangle armbar combo ala nog v coleman cain has to jump in and out of that shit like fedor and use his workhorse cardio to keep nog from setting shit up He almost got beat by Herring a couple years back in his first UFC appearance, and hasnt really faced a top HW, except for Mir.....and was crushed by him. I think Big Nog will look like a has been. And this comes from a big fan of Big Nog. Nog looked so slow agaisnt Couture, who is a legend and GREAT fighter at 46 yerars old. But in today's mma, Nog will see that his days as a top fighter are gone. Whoever wins this is a legit challenger for the belt, and has to be top five (fuck Barnett and if Nog wins he's probably back to #3). I am going to take some time before making a pick here. Cain by TKO in round 2. I cant stand that mexican parrot! Somebody please take this guy out! Anybody! Lots of Puerto Rican men do there eyebrows like chicks. Eddie Alvarez is a great example. Its a cultural thing for them. Whenever I see a guy with eyebrows shaped better than my wifes' I say, "yeah, he's a Puerto Rican, or gay, or a gay Puerto Rican." However, seeing that some government benefits come by playing group politics and victimization, every god damned group has tried to jump on the Black Pride bandwagon: Mexicans, Asians, gays and lesbians and now even "transgendered" (freaks who cut their own nuts off!). Save for WASPs every immigrant group was discriminated against and hated when they first came. Ever seen the old "Irish need not appy" advertisements? So Mr. Brown Pride can go fuck himself with his offensive and racist tatoo! no one's saying that brown pride means hispanics are better than everybody else; they're just pointing out that they're proud of their heritage and cultural and all of that. no one's asking you to jump on board and show up at the next parade, but there's a thing called tolerance. jesus christ. i feel like i'm lecturing a group of neo-nazis on why it's socially inappropriate to beat up jews in crowded places.
