Tito Ortiz says he's close to signing a deal with Strikeforce that will give him some sort of sub-promotion called Punishment Fighting Championships. Strikeforce's execs say "Uuuuh ... no." Tito also wants to fight Fedor soon. We expect Fedor's people to say "Zeeeeeej ... niet."

Mirko Crocop may be back in the Octagon sooner than Kevin Iole originally thought. Lorenzo Fertitta took the jet out for a spin and stopped by Mirko's corner of Croatia to try and sort out some sort of deal. For those who think Crocop isn't worth it, keep in mind that European expansion ain't gonna be easy without a few decent European fighters.

Hot on the heels of Zuffa demanding a $100,000 flat fee from any company that wants to sponsor it's fighters, they've now sent out word that any fighter who appears in the Electronic Arts MMA video game will be blacklisted forever. Details are still sketchy, but the word is this is regardless of if they're currently signed with the UFC or not. So it hasn't exactly been a great week for fighter rights.

UFC VP of Regulatory Stuff Marc Ratner says first all 50 states need to sanction MMA before the UFC gets cracking on trying to teach refs and judges not to suck. Meanwhile, Big John McCarthy's COMMAND ref training system continues to be ignored.

In a funny Japan / honor / wackiness story, Kazuo Misaki will pay public penance for hurting a police officer's wrist with his car by fighting Kazuhiro Nakamura at the next Sengoku event ... for free.

The UFC Fan Expo just got three times better: Limp Bizkit was canceled, grappling superfights featuring Rumino Sato, Vinny Magalhaes and Joe Stevenson were added, and a fourth UFC ring girl will be crowned.

And after a week off for Ryan in the frigid air conditioned depths of Tennessee, we return with a Low Blow Mailbag show and the Happy Hour, which focuses on the TUF Finale and the Ultimate Chaos event with Bobby Lashley.

I find the news about Misaki fighting at Sengoku for free very amusing and very revealing how very different the japanese mma scene is to the american mma scene.

Imagine Dana holding a press conference telling us that do to Rampage's "Rampage" he will be fighting his next fight without pay.

People on the forums would call it modern day slavery. =)

On the other hand noone seems to care that the japanese promoter made a thing out of it and held a press conference AND will pocket that money himself.

Oh and btw good stuff with the rundown. Make it a weekly thing!
Blackula Jonez
that is the most info i have seen in one blog post on this site in the couple of months since google brought me here, even the recaps in condensed form work on bringing people up to speed without going back a couple of pages

You have in your Quick Bites "Gono vs Misaki @ Sengoku 9". They are fighting at that event, but not against each other. Misaki is fighting Nakamura (which you correctly state in the body text) and Gono drew Dan Hornbuckle.
Fightlinker
That's strange ... I knew it was Hornbuckle but guess I brain farted. Fixed, and thanks!
FacePunch
yes! make this weekly!

Ive seen Rob Kimmons fight at local shows in iowa and on the ufc's but I remember absolutely nothing him and Jorge Rivera seems like a nice guy but did he hook dana white up on a good coke deal? How did he get a 4 fight deal?
Susan M.
Agreed, dig the weekly rundown format, keep doing it.
