Listening to Tito Ortiz speak, you'd think it was still 2003. He sure does sound like he just stepped out of a cryo-pod and the last 5 years of suckitude were all just a bad dream involving fight politics and back problems. And who knows, maybe they were. But I think Tito is on the way for a real rude awakening when he realises his slightly ambitious comeback goals are a bit harder to acheive than he thought. From MMA Weekly:
"I feel sorry for the person they have me fight, but I do need one warm-up fight," he said. "I managed to come off a huge back surgery. It's been a year since I've competed. I think one warm-up fight to get things going."

"After that, I don't want no more warm-up fights. I'm hoping by my fourth fight, possibly fight Fedor Emelianenko at a catchweight. That'd be something that I'm looking forward to possibly by the middle of next year."

Yep, you heard him. He wants Fedor. How original. Also mentioned in the article is how he's working with Strikeforce / Showtime / CBS to sort out a deal "the UFC can't match", which makes me think Zuffa still gets to take a look at any contract and match the overall dollar value. So unless the people Tito wants to sign with are extra creative, it's still gonna be pretty hard for them to get around that.

It would actually be quite amusing to hear that all Tito's past attempts at signing with promotions were stopped by the UFC's right to match other offers. Dana White might not particularly want Tito Ortiz, but you know he's more than happy to bleed other promotions hard if they do.

I almost don't want Tito to sign with any organization. The longer he's out there as a free agent, the more crazy shit he's going to say. Punishment Fighting Championships? That's comedy gold.

You Idiot Tito, Fedor isn't going to ever cut weight especially for your washed up ass, it bothers me how delusional some people can be.

Tito's fighting weight (night of the fight) is easily 220+. So the tale of the tape weight difference is no more than 10-15 pounds. And Fedor is not exactly ripped and he's shorter than Tito. Tito is a bitch for demanding a catchweight.

Gooooooooooooooo Titoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

All they have to do is offer Tito a good sum of money and a ONE FIGHT CONTRACT and the UFC would never match it.

The UFC is STILL able to match any offers for Tito? Tito hasn't fought since freakin May of last year. Why is he still tied to the UFC contractually like this? These Zuffa contracts have to be freakin illegal.

There are times when I literally don't expect Tito to ever fight again.
