In the beginning of the first round, Razor looked pretty sharp, but then Cowboy knocked him down and rode him like a bull. Yeah. That's me channeling Mauro Renallo right there. How you like dem apples?
This is the kind of fighting I like to see. Technical, intense and brutal. I still can't believe that those idiots chose not to show this fight. Well, those morons got demoted, but it still doesn't make me feel any better.
Is it just me, or does Cerrone look huge for a 155er? I gotta give props to McCullough for being able to get out of some bad situations. Fucking amazing defense. That, and the amount of punishment he absorbed was simply baffling. I just finished watching it a few minutes ago, and I feel a little silly having waiting this long. What the fuck is wrong with me? Thanks MMA Scraps for showing me the way...
the wec did the best of 2008 show and had this fight on there. i think that the only reason they made that show is just to show this fight. It was the last fight of the show, and all of the other fights have already been aired.
Gracias, Jacobo. I've been too lazy to look this up and watch it also but how could I resist when you lay it out so nicely for us. Great fight. Looking forward to next WEC.
Cerrone has excellent skills and moves with a fluidity that makes his movements (kicks, jabs etc) look effortless. But if he doesn't start keeping his left hand UP...that fluidity will quickly fade.
btw-- Cerrone reminds me of a long Matt Serra in that video.
No way Madman, Cowboy moves, strikes and fights like a young GSP. He has outstanding striking with only decent head movement, and when he started mixing it up and shooting he seemed exactly like GSP 6 or 7 fights ago.
The only thing that reminds me of Matt "the overly hyped" Serra is that if he dosen't work on his head movement and that left hand resting higher, he might get KO'd with a spinning backfist.
But that man is impressive, especially his toughness. My money is on him over Varner.
I just got done watching a lot of his fights and this seems tough. I sorta want to go with Varner because of the wrestling. Cerrone comes from a Thai Boxing background and his submissions aren't on Varner's level yet.
they both seem like rounded MMA fighters to me. Cerrone sure ain't the kid they showed on Tapout any more. With any luck we'll be gifted with an all out epic battle. not the least because I want to be able to say I was there.
