If you thought middleweight title shots couldn't get any lamer than they did with Patrick Cote, then hold onto your butts: While the door to move back to the 205-pound division is still open, it appears Anderson Silva's next fight will likely be another middleweight title defense, possibly against Thales Leites in February. Did no one get the memo where Anderson Silva said he's going to retire from MMA when his contract is up? What the fuck is the UFC doing setting up these bullshit matches? At the very least, Patrick Cote had rattled around the middleweight division long enough to be able to earn a shot at the belt. If he had been facing anyone other than Anderson Silva, we probably would have thought it was a perfectly legitimate pick. But even if we turn back the clock and put Rich Franklin back in the slot of middleweight champion, hooking Thales Leites up with a shot is fucking rediculous. The only decent name he's won against is Nate Marquardt, and he didn't even win that fight. He was just lucky that Nate fouled him so much that he won via point deductions. I know Dana is probably up against a rock and a hard place trying to dig contenders out of the woodwork for Anderson Silva to fight. But how about this for an idea? Bring Silva back to 205 and start giving him some real challenges. The day he breaks a sweat against competition in the UFC is the day he maybe rethinks his decision to move onto something more challenging like boxing.  sad trombone.  Doesn't Silva only have like 5 fights left on his contract before he supposedly wants to retire? If we only get 5 more fights who in their right mind would want one of them to be Leites?  Leittes would destroy Cote so I see no problem with this match. Guess Anderson didn't want to wait for the winner of that fight, which begs the question why didn't they just match up Okami against Anderson in Feb instead of the boogeyman fight. Anderson Wants the UFC to show him the fucking $$$ after his contract is up and thats all that talk is. As for this Thales Leites I do think he deserves a title shot more then Cote did but I am split hears why Leites has a 5 fight win streak going and like it or not how it happend and went down he beat the person most think is a top contender if not the top contender of the MW division in Nate Marquardt, But I would like to see Leites get another BIG win over a top contender in the MW division like Bisping, Dan Henderosn, Okami,Maia etc then I would be all for him getting a title shot. But lets be honest this fight will be shit Anderson would run right over him in no time then its just horrible horrible fight for Leites and the biggest thing of all fans will give to shits about this fight and that equals shitty PPV buys. The UFC should just stop fucking around and just give Okami the title shot I don't know why the matched him up with Dean Lister, If any body deserves that tielr shot its Okami !!!! And there is a history there the UFc could build up between Silva and Okami.
