Still, you gotta wonder how happy Danzig can be. His loss to Guida was back in September and UFC Fight Night 17 is in February. That means 5 months of sitting around for a fight that doesn't really do much for him. It's literally the kind of match that will only teach us something new if Mac somehow loses. You'd figure with the number of shows going up and up and up for the UFC that guys like Danzig would be getting rotated a bit faster than 5 months. Three months seems to be that magical fast turnaround number, and four should really be the limit of the norm ... enough time for a dude to take a few weeks off and then put together a really solid camp. While I understand keeping big ticket dudes like Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell on the shelf until the right fights fall into place, who gives a shit about doing that with guys like Danzig? Ask Joe Stevenson, Melvin Guillard & Din Thomas about Neer being 'soft'. Neer is 24-7 and most of his losses came when he was fighting as a tiny WW against much bigger guys. Drew Fickett, Josh Burkman, & Nick Thompson are all studs and all had a pretty massive size advantage over him. The Diaz brothers didn't have a massive size advantage, but those guys are fucking studs and there is no shame in losing to them. The fact of the matter is, Neer has a much more impressive MMA resume than Danzig. Seriously, go take a look at Danzig's record and tell me if he has three wins that can measure up to Stevenson/Thomas/Guillard. Mac has spent most of his career beating up on nobodies and had no answer for the UFC's premier LW gatekeeper. The Dentist is going to rearrange Danzig's over-rated grille. better wrestling so I can see him taking Mac to the ground and keeping him there. Calling Neer a soft opponent is weak analysys he might do some damage yet in the lightweight division. Honestly, if he had not been on TUF or showed up in Pride to take an ass kicking from Mach Sakurai, Fightlinker would know who the fuck he is.
