Dana White should know by now that as soon as he makes assumptions on who's gonna win a fight in order to set up future fights, shit ALWAYS goes awry. Like super crazy awry. Tonight was no exception as Chuck Liddell was facing off against Rashad Evans. The worst kept secret in the world was that Chuck would get a title shot against Forrest Griffin on NYE if he beat Rashad. So what happened? Rashad Evans knocked Chuck Liddell the fuck out. The jinx lives.
I'm sure this KO will be all over the internets in the next few hours, but let me try to explain to you what happened: Rashad Evans stayed on the outside dancing around like a fool, and Chuck Liddell was forced to push forward and chase him. This went on for the entire first round, with Rashad's corner telling him to keep it up because it was pissing Chuck off. Round two starts, Chuck pushes forward again and walks right into a massive overhand right from Rashad.
When Chuck got knocked out by Rampage, it wasn't all that satisfying. It was a beautiful 'on the button' punch, but it didn't look devastating. Rashad's punch, on the other hand, made me fear for Chuck's life. Liddell hit the ground like a wet rag and just lay there all limp. When Dean checked him out, his head lolled like a dead 80's action film henchman with a broken neck.
Y'all know I don't like Rashad, but one thing I do love is chaos. And this win by Rashad throws everything we were expecting at light heavyweight in the trash. Now I don't think anyone knows what the fuck is going to go on. Who's next in line for a title shot? Will Rampage vs Wanderlei still happen? Will Machida get a shot now by default? Will the UFC try to turn runty lemons into shitty lemonade with Rashad vs Forrest?
The fight was pretty boring right up to that spectacular knockout. But the fallout from Chuck losing is gonna be more exciting than the best of cage fights. Chaos!
Holy ****, did he get KTFO!!!! You think Lesnar is a tool, what about the moron, idiot posing that Rashad been doing. Matt Hughes did say something right once in his life. The fact that thre is no room for Rashad's kind of retardedness. The UFC wont be giving a fucking idiot like Rashad a chance to be the face of the LH division until he learns to grow up a little. What a fucking tool!!
There is showboating and acting up and showmanship, but what Rashad does is almost embarrassing to watch
I am not even talking about his foot movement, etc ,etc that "pissed off" Chuck the entire first round. It is the dancing to Chuck's entrance music and that little act he did like he was having a heart attack. I hate Lesnar, but compared to Rashad...Lesnar is classy
what do you call the little number Rashad did after KOing Liddel. theone where he kinda looks like he is crying and in pain, or having a heart attack ,or both. real Classy. Yeah I consider that idiot posing. And who dances around to their opponents music like that????
I dont think I will be the only one that thinks that way. And no, I am not even really a big Liddell fan. I really didnt care who won this fight. It just came across as too cocky and arrogant to me, I dont know?
i am excited to see what is next for the light heavyweight division. Joe silva has so many options.. Rashad, Machida, W. Silva, T. Silva, Griffin, A. Silva, Shogun, Rampage.... i say unofficial LHW tournament. if they spread it over the next 6-7 shows, they could build up for some major PPV's towards the end of it. I think this cold really build up the UFC. re-create some excitement that will die down after lesnar decisions couture
LOL. Mayeb I am. I will agree that it was one of the sickest KO's in a long time. I enjoyed it. Rashad does have 2, of the top 3 or 4 best highlight reel KO's of the UFC
The LH division of the UFC may never be as strong as it is today....Easily of the top 15 BEST LH fighters in the world, at least 11 or 12 of them are in the UFC. Of the top, nearly every one of the top 10 fighters are in the UFC LH division
It's been known for a while that Chuck is a counter puncher. Now people really know how to beat him: don't give him anything to work with. Move back and counter-punch him.
Yeah, people have seen into the Iceman. Just make him come to you. He will get annoyed and eventually chase you. Chuck just does not have the Machida bicycle technique mastered, nor will he ever hit once or twice then retreat, that is what makes him so exciting to watch. He will always go for the kill, eventually...and it has been costing him dearly lately
It would have cost him dearly 10 years ago but he was facing Tito Ortiz and Babalu and Randy Couture and Jeremy Horn and shit. That weird angle Knuckle Sammitch worked really well against wrestlers and people who didn't know how to box. Rampage and Evans both showed incredible boxing and that's why they got flush KOs on Chuck and why Keith Jardine won a text book counter attacking fight. The competition is getting too good and techincal for that sort of nonsense.
