Fight for the Canadian Troops

Canadian Hero Fund – UFC Fight For The Troops from Canadian Hero Fund on Vimeo.

Even though Spike TV is available across Canada, tonight’s Fight for the Troops 2 card will be playing on another channel as well: Rogers Sportsnet. Not only do Sportsnet viewers not have to watch endless commercials for Manswers, Blue Mountain Shit, and Castrol, they’ll also have an opportunity to support Canadian troops. Instead of focusing on the Intrepid Fallen Heros Fund, the event will instead pimp the Canadian Hero Fund:

The initial project of the Canadian Hero Fund is to provide post-secondary scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen Canadian soldiers. Scholarships awarded by the Fund help finance post-secondary education at government-accredited universities, colleges and technical schools.

A noble charity indeed, although I do have to say the USA wins in terms of heartwrenching causes that need support. I’m all down for the kids of fallen soldiers getting scholarships, but after watching last year’s Fight for the Troops again and seeing the tragic stories of troops with traumatic brain injuries, cheaper college tuition doesn’t quite compare. And I’m Canadian!

Whatever your nationality or thoughts on the stupid, stupid, fucking stupid wars in the Middle East, it’s still human beings who’s lives are being destroyed and they need help. We let the UFC rape our wallets regularly for our PPV fix. I’m sure we can scrounge up a few dollars for a good cause – for either or both charities.

Plus Rogers Sportsnet is available in HD, but Spike is not in Canada. I dunno how it is in the States (or Montreal), but around here Spike’s feed is lower quality than normal even for low-D.

Yeah i noticed when i’m down in the states that there’s always this bleepity bloop shit jacking up the signal on SpikeTV

    and for my bi-weekly rant:

As an American to all of the world, I’d just like to say sorry for the perpetual war in the middle east and the many to follow. We here in America DONT think about the war often because we’re to busy watching TV,driving our huge Cars and thinking about what SLUT to bang next. PLus its never really mentioned anywhere, especially any of the horrific parts(rape, friendly fire, collateral Damage, suicide) Bush fixed that, so all we see are flags and..look!..a.Tank..COOL!…USAUSAUSAUSA

I’am especially sorry for the IMF and the tide of NGO’s making sure war and
poverty will always be happening some where on earth and that it will be
beneficial for the Conglomerate’s who already control nearly every
object, system and market on this cursed rock..

I’ve had one brother go AWOL from the army(he is FUCKED). He was in Iraq the first days and I got another brother plus an aunt and cousins in the service.Fuck plus my best friend “Dimitri” R.I.P ARMY
