Fedor’s protege

Cruising Nightmare of Battle, I found an interesting post that talked about some new international talent to keep your eyes on. One of the people mentioned is Kirill Sidelnikov, a 19 year old student of Fedor Emelianenko:

Kirill trains at the Alexander Nevsky club at Stari Oskol. In 2006 he won a Junior Championships of Russia in Combat Sambo. And according to Fedor if young Kirill will not lose his momentum and will make every effort to further improve; he is bound to reach great heights. In a recent interview F. Emelyanenko said that he would be glad if, in future, Kirill succeeded him in the ring. And such an assessment, you`ll agree, is an honor and, at the same time, great responsibility.

You can see a quick video of him knocking some dude out here. I can see why Fedor likes the kid … he’s got a mullet, dead eyes, an unathletic look and a retarded last name. He bounces around a little too much at the moment, but I agree that the kid’s definitely got some potential. Unless Fedor’s brother Aleks takes offense to the ‘successor’ label and decides to strangle Kirill in an alleyway, that is.

  • FightStinker is RIGHT! says:

Looks pretty good. Left himself open a little too much at the beginning but then regained composure towards the end and caught him with a pretty good leg kick to end the fight.

Good prospect for a stand up fighter, but would like to see how he does against a wrestler.

  • Geoff says:

I remember a year or so ago Fedor saying that he wanted to train him alot more before he has his next fight. The kid’ll probably be a monster.

  • dignan says:

Fedor, Aleks and that kid all punch alike…I wish they’d teach me. All have that lighting quick and powerful style.

I thought it was all natural, and obviously there is a technique and method to the madness.

  • Jemaleddin says:

That method is called “the ‘roids the east germans came up with to use on their women so that they got so burly we had to genetically test them to prove they weren’t men.”

Speaking of which, who wants to slip some of those to Edith? Can’t make her any freakier…

  • hankd says:

I’ve been following Kiril since his 1st fight…definitely a kid to watch.

  • kentyman says:

That fight you linked was against Shin Dong-Woo. If you low-blow him, can you say he asked for it by name?

    Woo, it’s early.
