I wonder if M-1 Global is going to deny that Fedor is fighting in Japan right up to the point where Fedor squeezes his hairy gut through the ring ropes at Saitama and squares off against an opponent. I have a feeling here’s what’s we’ll be hearing over the next week or two:
“Fedor’s not fighting on NYE. Fedor’s not fighting on NYE. Fedor IS NOT fighting on NYE. Oh my god … Fedor is fighting on NYE. Johnny, get our lawyers on the phone. The contract said WHAT? What the fuck? Shit. Uuuuuuuuuuh. Hey … we’ve really known all along Fedor is fighting on NYE! We were just joking around. We give Fedor our blessing. Good luck Fedor!”
The latest development in this whole situation is that Fedor might be facing off against Hong Man Choi … so sayeth Greg Savage from Sherdog. Savage continues that this is some kind of deal where HUSTLE (Dream Stage’s pro wrestling company) is paying big bucks to use Fedor … but who’s getting the big bucks? M-1? Or Fedor?
Also worth noting is the fact that Hong Man Choi is signed with K1, and this proposed show would be competing with K1’s Dynamite show. So that’s a bit strange, and I’d be really surprised if this information is correct. Especially with the rumors that Pedro Rizzo has been approached to fight. But god only knows if Rizzo was approached for the NYE show or the ‘real M-1’ show in February.
The only reason this rumor has any weight at all is because the Japanese loves them a freak fight, and Fedor vs Hong Man Choi is about as freak fight as you can get. It’s like a Japanese tradition to match Fedor up with the biggest, least qualified opponent they can find.
**UPDATE** I forgot to credit stellar53 for tipping me off about this. I hope he doesn’t actually listen to Sherdog radio because it’s a steaming pile of dung. As soon as they switched over to live and started taking calls from retards I stopped listening.
