ELITEXC ARE FUCKING SCUMBAGS

Is there a scummier fucking company out there than EliteXC? Honestly, these guys collect criminals and deviants the way kids collect Pokemon cards: like they need to ‘catch em all’ or they’ll freak out. I’ve put up with it to this point because for the most part what happens outside the ring is a fighter’s own business. Krazy Horse is a goddamn psycho, but that’s outside the ring. He pays for the consequences of his actions on a regular basis, getting thrown in jail every other week. Kimbo I’m still iffy on, but so long as he doesn’t go back to felony fights while repping our sport, that’s okay with me too. But there are basically two people in MMA who I will never be okay with: that fucking nazi scumbag and Mike Kyle.

We talked about the nazi scum a while ago when we first realized he was fighting for King of the Cage, a sub-company of ProElite. We thought the issue was dealt with after hundreds of jackals sent messages and emails to ProElite to make them aware of the situation. Of course, that didn’t stop them from booking Costa again a few months later. But even employing a freaking neo-nazi pales in comparison to the latest bullshit by ProElite (and let’s not forget Strikeforce for going along): they’ve booked Mike Kyle for the Shamrock-Le card tomorrow.

Do you remember Mike Kyle? If you don’t, then you should re-watch the video above where Kyle delivers an illegal kick to his opponent and then continues to rain punches down on his unconscious foe while referees struggle to pull him off. How bad was the damage? Here’s his victim Bryan Olsen to tell you:

ADCC: What injuries did you suffer due to the illegal actions of Mike Kyle?

BRIAN: I have fractured the zygomatic and maxillary bones on the left side of my face. I also broke my nose and ruptured a sinus cavity in my nose. I saw a specialist today and he told me from the position of the fractures and injuries, it was the result of more than one hit. Basically some of the injuries occurred after the kick when he was punching me in the face.

ADCC: On June 3rd, 2006 you were scheduled to fight Chad Bartlett at MFC 7: USA vs. Russia III. Is that bout now off and do you think you will ever fight again?

BRIAN: That fight is off and after my surgery I will have plates and screws in my face permanently. I have along way to recover and consider my fight career over.

I don’t know how they’ve done it, but somehow ProElite’s sub-company EliteXC has managed to book the only person out there who’s worse than that fucking nazi guy. Mike Kyle intentionally and brutally broke the rules to hurt his opponent as badly as possible. How that guy is getting back into the cage when he should be sitting in a jail cell is beyond me.

So let’s break down the list of who should be fucking ashamed of themselves here:

1. The California State Athletic Commission for reinstating Mike Kyle. Fighting is a privilege, and Kyle should never be allowed to step into the ring again after what he did.

2. EliteXC for booking someone who has proven that he has no respect for the rules of the sport or for the well being of his opponents. By extension, booking someone like Kyle shows that EliteXC cares more about courting controversy for financial gain than they do for the well being of their fighters

3. Strikeforce for allowing this shit on a co-promoted card.

4. The fans and MMA media for not standing up and voicing their outrage over this.

I can’t tell you how sick this whole situation makes me. It has turned a card that I was eagerly awaiting into something that I honestly have no interest in supporting or watching. I honestly have no goddamn clue what the hell was going on in the minds of the people at EliteXC when they decided to book this fucking disgusting waste of space. The fact that these are the ones who are going to be in charge of sheparding MMA into the mainstream media with the CBS deal is starting to scare me more and more.

At the press conference — well, afterwards, Kyle thanked the press for not being too hard on him.

  • Esther, have you watched the video to see what he did?

  • Esther says:

I’m not defending him. I’m only reporting what he said. I’m not keen on him myself.

  • Dangerfield says:

I dont mind the neo nazi. He can dream as much as he wants as long as he doesn’t bring his baggage into the ring I’m fine.

  • Zurich says:

Suddenly Dana White doesn’t look so bad eh?

  • Esther says:

Please don’t hurt me FL. I watched the video. I’m rooting for Cole — but wishing they would bump that fight down so that Tiki Ghosn vs Luke Stewart would be televised.

  • Mobb Deep says:

What Zurich said. Babalu got thrown out for just holding a choke for 2 extra seconds.

  • It’s all cool Esther … we is tight no matter what :-) This Kyle thing just blows my mind tho

  • garth says:

god damn. i’m pissed now…that card has gone to shit in a couple days. my first impulse was to cancel showtime. i pay extra dough for that shit whether there’s a fight or not. i don’t want to support costa or kyle.

  • danaunclefesterwhite says:

Mike Kyle is a piece of shit. Holding on a choke for a bit too long is one thing but attacking a fighter while knowingly being restrained by the ref is a thug move. He should have been banned from the sport for life. ProElite is a carny circus but they put on some good fights so I still watch their events. But shit ProElite needs to clean up their roster. Gary Shaw is a dodgy fuck.

  • Accomando says:

I remember watching Kyle get KTFO by that loser Justin Eiliers in the UFC, wow, he really sucks.

  • godzillad says:

    Is that exactly breaking news?

  • airipsus says:

Fightlinker have you been able to find out anything regarding what Olsen has been doing for the past year?I know he had a couple fights since then.I’m curious how that works with someone having a medal plate in there face and fighting.

  • x5boltmainx says:

I’ll be rooting for the other to smash his face in. You know what they say, “payback’s a bitch.”

  • Xenicore says:

Thanks for covering this; you’re probably going to be one of the few, unless you started a trend here.

  • Xavier says:

“The fact that these are the ones who are going to be in charge of sheparding MMA into the mainstream media with the CBS deal is starting to scare me more and more.”

That’s what I’m fucking talking about. I’m surprised they haven’t tried to sign the neo-Nazi to fight Kimbo on the first CBS card. Shaw and his cronies are jackasses of the first order. For all the shit people give Dana White, he would never sign this fucking scumbag Kyle.

Good job banging the drum on this anew. Fuck you CSAC, while we’re at it.

  • Smashy Smash says:

Seen worse in football, hockey, soccer, etc… and have never seen those persons get banned from the sport, just shuffled from team to team.

Yes it was against the rules, but those have never been broken before have they? Good thing it wasn’t Pride rules or Icon for that matter or the ref would have not been in as fast.

Not saying it wasn’t a dick move move but it happens in violent and non-violent sports when adrenaline is pumping.

  • Higgz says:

The only difference between Mike Kyle & Anderson Silva is that the ref was able to get in the way of Silva after he illegally kicked Yushin Okami in the face and tried to get around the ref twice to continue beating on him.

I’m not sticking up for Kyle, I just don’t like the fact that nobody says anything about Silva just because after he deviates your septum he’s a nice guy.

  • clint notestine says:

I don’t know who he was fighting but Gomi did a similar stunt back in Pride, had to be restrained by multiple refs and personnel, should he be banned for life? I understand that the kick was illegal and thats bad but come on! He lost it for a second and broke the rules… he didn’t randomly attack a spectator or punch the ref. The guy being hurt like that is too bad but he got in the Cage and thats what happens sometimes.
I do admit that EliteXC has hired some “characters” like Neo Nazi guy and “Krazy Horse” that don’t paint MMA in a good light.

  • clint notestine says:

it was Luiz Azerado who Gomi continued to attack due to what he called adrenaline and apologized.

  • KB says:

Thanks for posting this video I had heard about this but never saw it until now. The only thing worth seeing on this card now is the Shamrock fight, but the way things are going now Cung will probably trip on a banana peel before the weigh-ins and the fight will be called off.

  • Haven’t you figured it out yet, linker? EXC is nothing more then a MMA veiled pro wrestling promotion. Its one of the golden rules form wrestling promoters; Controversy creates cash.

EXC is worse and most visible example that most fight organizations are simply pro wrestling shows with MMA inplace of wrestling.

The similarities are uncanny; hire uncontrollable nuts who regularly viciously jump people, see the Hardcore Holly/Tough Enough incident, and the Bradshaw/Blue Meanie cheap shots.

Promoting well-known and habitual drug users, like Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam. Compared to Nick Diaz and Ricco Rodriguez.

    Nazi’s and skinheads? Theres tons.

Its ridiculous shit, and pretty down right damn dumb, to not only for EXC to try to copy that idiocy, but to base the entire structure of their promotion on it.
    (i.e. with Kimbo Slice)

  • Xavier says:

“The guy being hurt like that is too bad but he got in the Cage and thats what happens sometimes.”

So being illegally assaulted in an attempt to maim or end your life happens? Fucking a guy up because you’re little baby angry “happens sometimes”?

Uh, no, and it’s not expected to happen. You’re a douchebag. I hope you end up being shot on the street getting into your car because hey, when you go outside, that’s what happens sometimes.

It’s good to see that Japan doesn’t have a monopoly on pro-wrestling style drama.

  • RL Dookiefuck is RIGHT! says:

Also Fightlinker would be total hypocrites if they started shitting on Kimbo after some of the dumbass streetfight videos they’ve been showing.

  • Since when have we ever shown any streetfights? I hate that crap.

  • Ross says:

If this was an isolated incident in Kyle’s career I’d be prepared to cut him a bit of slack (second chances and all) but he had a prior history of being a dirty fuck.

  • godzillad says:

You ”he lost it for a second” guys are retarded for playing devil’s advocate and it just shows how little you know about Mike Kyle.

    http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=2031&zoneid=13

Many fans of mixed martial arts have referred to Kyle as the dirtiest fighter in the sport on various MMA message boards, and what happened this past weekend will only add to the negative perception of Kyle that many people already had.

Making the situation even worse is the fact that Kyle then pounced on Olsen, delivering several punches to his unconscious opponent’s head. Referee Josh Rosenthal tried to position himself between the two fighters and stop Kyle, as fellow referee Herb Dean entered the cage to assist Rosenthal in preventing Kyle from continuing his assault on the unconscious Olsen. Olsen suffered a broken nose, and may have also suffered a broken cheek bone.

Mike Kyle’s mixed martial arts career has been plagued by fouls and questionable in-fight behavior.

During his fight against Wes Sims at UFC 47 in April of 2004, Kyle allegedly bit Sims on the chest. The bite marks were visible on Sims’ chest during the post-fight press conference, which took place a few hours after Kyle’s bout that evening.

When Kyle fought Justin Eilers at UFC 49 in August of 2004, Kyle delivered knees to Eilers’ crotch on a few different occasions before time was called and Eilers was allowed to recover. Eilers came back and won the fight by knockout.

Kyle’s fight against Tsuyoshi Kosaka in the Pancrase organization in October of 2005 had to be stopped prematurely after Kosaka was poked in the eye. The fight was taken to the judges’ scorecards, where Kyle won unanimously.

When Kyle fought Krzysztof Soszynski on the undercard of the StrikeForce promotion’s “Shamrock vs. Gracie” card in March of 2006, the bout was ruled a technical draw after Kyle poked Soszynski in the eye approximately two minutes into the fight.

The accumulation of these incidents is very troubling, but the most outrageous incident by far took place last Friday night (May 5th) at the WEC show in Lemoore, California when Kyle knocked out his opponent, Brian Olsen, with an illegal blow and then refused to stop pounding on his unconscious opponent.

  • groda says:

Ok, I’m officially donating 5 dollars to the “hitman for kyle” fund. That fucker needs to go.

  • caspersghost says:

don’t lie, you’ll watch just to see his head get kicked in

  • Nachtfalter says:

“I dont mind the neo nazi. He can dream as much as he wants as long as he doesn’t bring his baggage into the ring I’m fine.”

Well, I’ll mind along for you, Dangerfield. Kyle is scum and makes the word ‘unfair’ look really pale and inadequate but a fucking Nazi’s gotta be even worse.

  • Xavier says:

I don’t know if the Nazi is worse than a guy that openly tries to fuck up the careers of his opponents after he’s won the fight. Objectionable political and race beliefs are one thing, attempting to maim people because you’re an asshole is far another.

  • Asa says:

Yeah, the Nazi’s a bitch, but Kyle is openly attacking and maiming people. One was too many, and EliteXC is just asking for more. And during a network TV taping no less.

  • Jemaleddin says:

@Higgz #19: OMG you did not just compare this to Anderson Silva! What Anderson Silva did doesn’t even qualify as DQ-worthy in the minds of most fans, because the “no head kicks to downed opponents” has ALWAYS been interpreted to mean that a standing fighter shouldn’t use his superior position to unfairly attack a downed opponent. When most people think of that DQ, they perceive it as unfair to Silva!

Hell, the concept of knocking somebody out from the bottom is practically unheard of!

  • fightfan says:

Thank god Herb Dean wasnt in there. He is by far the ABSOLUTE worst ref in the game. How do they let him continue.

Just like the Stann/Marshall fight……Dean looked confused and jumped in and did nothing and just looked confused. At least Stann didnt tell Dean, its OK(a la Cruz/Arlovski) and let him continue to pummel Marshall.

Stann could of really hurt him with a few more shots, because Dean looked like he didnt know what he was going to do. Dean didnt motion that the fight was over until Stann walked away and started celebrating…..Even then it was the ahhh, maybe, well, I dont know, ummm what shoudl I do until he finally convinced his arms to wave that the fight is over

  • Fightlinker is Wrong says:

Eurgh. Fightlinker is right… about this.

Still a cunt though. Fuck ya.

  • Steve4192 says:

While I am no fan of Mike Kyle, it always has amazed me how much shit he caught for that incident while nearly identical incidents by Takanori Gomi and Kid Yamamoto are blown off as nothing more than a little post-fight adrenaline.

  • Steve4192 says:

    #29

Most of that MMA weekly list is bullshit and a similar list could be compiled on any fighter. The Wes Sims bite is the only thing that stands out. Other than that, groin shots and eye pokes are pretty much commonplace in MMA. Chuck Liddell & BJ Penn seem to eyepoke someone in every one of their fights, and Cheick Kongo introduced his knee to Cro Cops nuts at least a half-dozen times.

  • danaunclefesterwhite says:

His opponent’s face was really fucked up and he had to fit in screws and plates. He should have been in jail for that. Unfortunately there are “professional” athletes out there who committed worse.

  • Gong says:

I’ve never been for soccer kicks and stomps to begin with, so the fact that fuckers like him bring it into an org that doesn’t even have that move legalized? Argh. What the fuck is EXC doing?

  • Higgz says:

    @ Jamaleddin –

That’s exactly my point. Nobody wants to mention it in the same context. I could care less about Mike Kyle–I can’t get him and Mike Pyle straight for the life of me. But, everyone makes excuses for Silva and cruicifies Kyle. It just seems odd to me that “the minds of mma fans” doesn’t mind as long as it’s Silva.

  • Mike says:

Herb Dean did a great job in Stann/Marshall. Marshall was no knocked out from the left hook, in fact he tried to cover up and then went out from the additional punches Stann delivered. Stann must of noticed that Marshall was out and then started to walk away.

It would have been robbery and a huge controversy had Dean called the fight right after Stann knocked him down. Props to herb dean for being on top of things.

  • Mobb Deep says:

Silva didn’t continue his assault on Okami and when he tried to get around the ref, you do not know for what reason, so there is no comparison.

As for Gomi and Kid Yammoto, thats Japan’s problem, but I agree they are fuckers too.

WOW Xavier calm down. I am probably an asshole but I doubt Ill be shot in the streets. I dolive in a trailer park so you know what it could happen! I wonder if Kyle and Olsen had been fighting in Pride and this happened if you guys would have made such a big deal about it.

I admit Kyle is a piece of shit but he isn’t the only fighter out there thats a piece of shit. I think he should not be allowed to fight but since the CSAC has allowed it let him fight. If he does something wrong and/or dirty throw his ass in jail and never let him near a cage/ring or even gym ever again.

  • until they do again :-p

  • operator says:

The difference in Pride he would have known the kick was coming and had a chance to prepare for it. In this case he was preparing to defend himself but I doubt that it was for a kick to the head. Clearly he was totally knocked out and he continued to beat the guy while he was unconcious. He had a temper tantrum because the guy was giving him a good fight. If you can’t controll yourself then don’t compete. Anyone who fights him after that is gonna have that shit in the back of their mind wondering if they are gonna be maimed by this fuckin guy if they leave an opening wether it is ilegal or not.

  • FL, thanks for reinforcing my belief that you are one of the most fair and balanced bloggers around. This post proves how ridiculously bias the MMA media and the haters are against the UFC. I don’t recall any other site agressively criticising EXC for their stockpiling thugs and I was amazed how the MMA media didn’t express any outrage over the whole “Street Certified” title (which may have set back MMA as a sport several years). Had this been the UFC, there would be an endless stream of BS moral grandstanding on the evils of Dana White and Co.

His career wasn’t over, in fact, he had 2 wins.

  • Voice of Reason says:

Yeah, all UFC fighters are upstanding citizens. *Cough* Rob Emerson *Cough*

  • Matteo says:

Mike Kyle should be banned from fighting.

If anyone remembers the Collins-Resto scandal in boxing should know that a fighter is considered a weapon.

In that scandal it was found out that Resto had removed padding from his boxing glove and was more or less
boxing with his bare hands. Collins a top prospect suffered a torn iris and permanent blurred vision and never fought again. He later jumped off a cliff and committed suicide (some say due to the depression of never being able to fight again)
Resto and his trainer Panama Lewis were put on trial both served 2.5 years in jail and were banned from boxing for life.

Now I find it appalling that any athletic commission would let Kyle fight again. Seeing as how the NASC banned Gilbert Yvel from fighting there for an outburst as well. Mike Kyle should be banned too.
