It looks like that whole “Nakao ending up at the bottom of the sea” yakuza thing wasn’t so much of a joke as some made it out to be. While I doubt we’re going to be getting any official confirmation on why a switch of opponents for Mirko Crocop was made, a switch was made anyways: Tatsuya Mizuno will now be fighting. Here’s what Sherdog had to say:
Mizuno carries a 4-2 professional record contested entirely in Pancrase. His two most noteworthy opponents, Thiago Silva and Assuerio Silva, dominated him in brutal fashion. However, the Japanese fighter has since picked up two wins, stopping Masayuki Kono in the first round in November and submitting Dave Frendin last month in Australia.
Also, check out that nasty fucking scar he’s got downstairs.
While there wasn’t much doubt that Crocop was going to handle his original opponent, there was a bit of discussion on where he should rank on the can-o-meter. However, I really can’t imagine anyone putting Tatsuya Mizuno anywhere except at a solid 10 out of 10 on said meter.
