Crocop gets an easier opponent

It looks like that whole “Nakao ending up at the bottom of the sea” yakuza thing wasn’t so much of a joke as some made it out to be. While I doubt we’re going to be getting any official confirmation on why a switch of opponents for Mirko Crocop was made, a switch was made anyways: Tatsuya Mizuno will now be fighting. Here’s what Sherdog had to say:

Mizuno carries a 4-2 professional record contested entirely in Pancrase. His two most noteworthy opponents, Thiago Silva and Assuerio Silva, dominated him in brutal fashion. However, the Japanese fighter has since picked up two wins, stopping Masayuki Kono in the first round in November and submitting Dave Frendin last month in Australia.

Also, check out that nasty fucking scar he’s got downstairs.

While there wasn’t much doubt that Crocop was going to handle his original opponent, there was a bit of discussion on where he should rank on the can-o-meter. However, I really can’t imagine anyone putting Tatsuya Mizuno anywhere except at a solid 10 out of 10 on said meter.

This dude makes Eddie Sanchez look like Randy Couture.

Jesus, if that’s the kind of shenanigans they pull so Cro Can can finally get a win, well… his ass should retire.

  • FRANKIE says:

I honestly never liked Mirko, but I had at least some level of respect for him. This is just fucking retarded though. I actually hope he loses (although I wouldn’t bet on it).

  • x5BoltMainx says:

I read somewhere that they didn’t test for steroids in PRIDE, is that true? If it is, then that explains why he sucked in the UFC…..he needs his juice 😀 How does he expect to return to the UFC if he’s going to fight low level fighters in DREAM? Isn’t that moving backwards in your career instead of trying to move forward?

  • Xavier says:

“I read somewhere that they didn’t test for steroids in PRIDE, is that true?”

In Pride, they tested for nothing. The Brazilians were reputed widely to have been using uppers prior to fights, hence why they’ve looked so lethargic in the UFC compared to the monsters they were in Pride. Almost everyone under pride contract was on steroids or other performance enhancing drugs.

Precisely why Fedor likes fighting in Japan so much.

  • FRANKIE says:

It’s cute that you pretend to know what the fuck you’re talking about. Keep at it buddy.

  • Zane says:

Xavier- to generalize that everyone who fought in pride was taking steroids or uppers is an absurd statement. it discredits a lot of men that are where they are because of hard work and determination. it is people like you who are so misinformed and oblivious to their stupidity that give MMA forums a bad name. these are all just assumptions that u have no proof of. do us all a favor and find a new website to sound like a retard on.

  • Zheroen says:

Xavier: the Original Fightlinker Jagoff! Spewing gross generalizations and fanboy nonsense since 2007!

Seriously, dude. If you would have pointed to obvious examples like Ricardo Arona and vintage CroCop, then yeah, I’d agree. But Fedor and “almost everyone”? Come on.

  • Xavier says:

Uh oh pride fanboi attacks! Don’t insult their precious, oh, their precious! You guys also realize that Pride fixed a lot of fights, right? Cough, cough, Sakuraba, cough, cough.

Deal with the reality that your little shit Japanese promotion was a pill-poppin’, steroid-injectin’, fight-fixin’, Yakuza-runnin’ freakshow piece of shit. More pro-wrestling than legitimate sport.
