Crippled fighter out, crippled fighter in

Goddamn does it suck to be Shonie Carter. First his woman runs off with his kids, then the UFC releases him for talking smack, and now he’s off next weekend’s Strikeforce card with a painful sounding “shattered knuckle”:

Extroverted welterweight Shonie Carter (Pictures) has withdrawn from a co-featured bout against Luke Stewart (Pictures) at Strikeforce “Melendez vs. Thomson” on June 27 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Strikeforce middleweight Joe Riggs (Pictures) has agreed to step into the vacant slot on a week’s notice. The bout will be contested at a catch-weight of 178 pounds, confirmed Strikeforce representative Mike Afromowitz.

The last time we saw Riggs, he was being stretchered out of the ring because of a re-occuring back injury. And while Joe has apparently had ’spinal cord surgery’ to fix the issue, I don’t think that’s the kind of issue that ever really goes away when you’re doing stuff like wrestling, grappling, and getting the shit kicked out of you.

Anyone wanna bet a fiver on Riggs’ backbone exploding and rolling up like a shitty window blind during his fight?
