Carlos Condit knows the score

I’ll admit, Dana White’s ‘Dance, puppets!’ attitude towards pressuring teammates to fight each other isn’t the coolest, but I’m also sick of the teenage girl hysterics Rashad Evans busted out after deciding he was gonna fight Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title. Carlos Condit is no bitch though. He’s also no backstabbing douchebag. He’s just a straight up professional:

“To compete at the top level in this sport, you have to train on a daily basis with guys who are on the same level as you. They could possibly be in the same organization and the same weight class. So i think that its inevitable that eventually your going to have to cross paths with a teammate. Especially in my case training at Jacksons with all the top notch fighters coming out of that camp. At the end of the day it’s a business and we are in MMA to fight not make friends, and you should want to be the best in the world so sometimes you might have to fight a teammate. I’m not saying it’s not a tough thing because it is. It’s just business.”

See, there we go. Some common fucking sense. Fighting a friend may not be easy and it may not be optimal, but it’s part of the job. Especially when a fifth of the top fighters in MMA come through your gym.

    Fuck yeah.

Never had a problem with Dana White’s attitude in this matter.

They even had the first Ultimate Fighter sem-finals be teammate vs. teammate.  The reasoning was half TV BS (having a member of each team in the finals) and half “I don’t care if your mother is in the semi-finals, you fight your mother.”

Imagine if the SF HWGP ended with teammates making it to the finals and deciding to just call off the tournament due to BFF.  That would be real fucking sweet.  We almost had that problem in the Pride MWGP with Wand and Shogun, but luckily Wand got Arona’d (Or does Fitch have a patent on the dump’n’hump?) in the semi-finals.
