But … but … November is so FAR AWAY :-(

Canadian fans will have to make do with guys like Rory MacDonald and Mark Hominick for the majority of 2012, because our Gretzky, Georges St Pierre, is gone til November:

“Hard training will be in July, and I am looking to fight again, for the timing to be back, in November,” said St. Pierre while serving as a recent guest on Inside MMA . “Late October, early November would be good.”

“Rush” mentioned that he didn’t take enough time to rehab himself from the first injury, adding, “I tried to come back too fast and I was compensating with my other leg. That’s how I hurt myself.”

As for the upcoming Diaz-Condit bout that will crown a champion in his place, St. Pierre started out neutral before offering up his personal preference, saying, “I just hope the best man will win. But if the best man is Nick Diaz, I will appreciate it more, because it will be a better build up for a fight.”

It’s a good thing Georges gets paid so much per fight because he isn’t managing to make it into the cage that often any more. It’s been twice a year since 2008, once in 2011 and now once in 2012. Remember when this gypsy curse thing was kinda funny? Well it’s not any more. Fate, please stop messing with my fighters, kay?

I cannot wait for every single Welterweight fight coming up.  I really hope Nick gets in a defense before GSP comes back.  That’d be so dope.

Or Condit, y’know … whoever wins.

I hate to be that guy, but if a champion goes a year and a half without fighting it may be cause to strip him of his title. Condit/Diaz shouldn’t be forced to sit out for 9 months when they could easily have a title defense in the summer (with the winner still being ready for GSP’s return in November).

Interim title defenses are silly. As the unification match is so far off it may be time to consider removing the belt from GSP and giving him an immediate title shot when he returns in November. He’s a great ambassador for us all, but the WW division has been on pause for too long.

    lol nice work cap

i agree with mmadam. by time gsp gets back, it will be almost two years since his last fight. too long. should be stripped.

the ufc needs to implement some rules on how long a belt holder can be out before a mandatory stripping. letting someone hold a belt without fighting for two years is a joke.
