Fedor KO’ing Satoshi Ishii @ 2:29 of Rd. 1
Tokoro came out fast and furious, but while he’s a solid grappler, he’s not a great wrestler. Saadulaev got his hands on him and slammed him headfirst into the mat, putting his lights out for a good two minutes, and requiring him to be stretchered out of the ring.
~Much more action after the break!~
This was the most exciting part of the fight.
Masaaki Noiri vs. Kengo Sonoda
Noiri by Unanimous Decision
Noiri dominated the fight (as usual) using his nasty and voluminous kick and knee attacks. Kid is only 18 and already a killer. More on him in the next Browser Crasher.
Jumping Knee Knockdown
Kubo won the K-1 MAX -63 kg Tournament last June and has been whooping ass ever since. Widlund was game (especially considering he fought one of the world’s best on 10 days notice) but clearly outclassed. After battering Widlund for 2 rounds, Kubo really turned it on in the 3rd and put Widlund away.
Kubo Brazilian Kick | Kubo wrecking shit
Crusher will crush. 2nd fight at featherweight, 2nd arm triangle finish.
The outcome was never in doubt. Poor Karla though. She was having so much fun before the fight started.
Katsunori Kikuno vs. Yuichiro “Jienotsu” Nagashima
DREAM/K-1 Special Rules Bout
Kikuno via TKO (punches) at 2:34 of Rd. 2
Sloppy as fuck, but oh so awesome. Best fight of the night. Kikuno beat the shit out of Nagashima for most of the first round, but Jienotsu landed one of his trademark left hooks and downed Kikuno with about 30 seconds left in the round. Once Kikuno got his back in the 2nd, it was all over but the rabbit punching.
Bibiano Fernandes vs. Antonio Banuelos
Bantamweight Tournament Final
Fernandes via TKO (punches) at 1:21 of Rd. 1
If you hadn’t heard, the Aoki-Kitaoka situation is being played as similar to that of the Jones-Evans fiasco. They were good friends and training partners who vowed to never fight each other, but Aoki broke that vow by calling out Kitaoka, creating a rift between the BFF’s and feeding the hype for the NYE co-main event. How much of that is fabricated bullshit meant to create buzz I don’t know, but I suspect all of it.
Aoki should and could have finished Kitaoka in the first round. Kitaoka was getting owned on ground, and what little time that was spent on the feet, but it wasn’t until the fourth round that Aoki showed any of the trademark viciousness that he’s become known for. When it came to the ground game, he went easy on Kitaoka. Maybe he didn’t want to use certain “dirty” tactics against his friend…… but then he shouldn’t be fighting him. I want to see the mean-spirited, palm-striking, ear-cuffing, bird-flipping, arm-breaking, asshole Aoki. Despite getting a bit of the kid glove treatment, Kitaoka still got surprisingly fucked up over the five rounds. In the later rounds, the fight resembled the end of Penn vs. Stevenson, as Aoki repeatedly strangled a beaten and bloody Kitaoka, but never quite being able to finish. With his smashed nose pouring blood down the back of his throat, Kitaoka’s gurgling death rattle wheeze was actually kind of disturbing to hear. Aoki did him no favors by not finishing him early. Kitaoka rallied at the end of the 5th, landing some 15 knees to the head with Aoki in a difficult position to escape, but that (along with some backwards hammerfists) was the sum of the effective offense he put forth. Very lopsided fight.
That’s a HUGE bitch.
and fuck all that pro-rassling bullshit. Except for Inoki Jesus.
