Life is full of lessons that you learn primarily through experience. Don’t put your hand on an open flame or you’ll get burned. Don’t ride a bike with no helmet or you could hurt your head. Don’t stand by the elementary school playground with your hand down your pants while licking your lips or someone will call the police.
Recently, Tim Sylvia learned a lesson of his own: do not listen to anything Monte Cox says. Ever. Here’s what Big Tim had to say about his nine second loss to the forty-eight year old Ray Mercer:
I stood up with a boxer when he was in my world, which is stupid of me.
I would have to agree with that assessment. Taking that fight in the first place was a lose-lose situation on par with signing up for an anchovy eating competition or taking a test to get into the seminary. You live and you learn.
