Bibiano Fernandes is not DREAM’s bitch

After months of bitching and waiting, DREAM featherweight champ Bibiano Fernandes has finally been paid by FEG for his fight against Joachim Hansen seven month ago. But if they thought that squaring their debt meant everything would be cool again, they wuz wrong. Here’s Fernandez saying nuh-uh:

They called me and said they wanted me to fight on the 25th event. Are you nuts? I said: “You just paid me, you didn’t even talk to me before and now you want me to fight? I’m a professional. This is my life, this is what I do for a living, it’s not like that”. It’s not about the money, I want to make a good fight, I’m not training… Ok, I’m training, but I’m not on the level to fight. I told they it doesn’t work like that, I’m not conditioned, I’m not on the right rhythm, I won’t fight. I’ll go to Brazil and see my father, my family, so maybe next time”. They started saying thing and claiming they’d give me things and I said: “I won’t fight. You said you’d pay me in 20 days and only six months later you actually paid me. You want me to fight, but no. I appreciate it, but maybe next time”. Let’s see how things get.

Things might not get better any time soon. FEG is currently holding their breath waiting for last-ditch capital to flow from it’s iffy deal with Chinese investment firm PUJI. If those guys don’t like what they see (and what’s to like – the dropping attendence, low ratings, or incompetant management?), there might not be another DREAM event for Bibiano to fight at.

bring the man to the dubya e c

  • FiveBoltMain says:

He wont come to the WEC because he says that they don’t pay that much. What’s the point of getting a big paycheck from DREAM if it takes 7 months to get it? If he was in the WEC, he would have 2 fights in a 7 month stretch. That should surely equal one DREAM paycheck.

  • UberShmact says:

Good for him, not paying people is not cool.

  • DJ ThunderElbows says:

AND he’d most likely be getting solid sponsorships in addition to his current ones.

  • Blackula Jonez says:

seeing as how Bellator gives you 100 grand if you win a tournament, that would seem like best be for big money at lighter weight classes.

a Joe Warren rematch would be dope.
