Are we becoming spoiled bitches?

Kid Nate goes off on the Dan Henderson vs Rich Franklin rematch that has just been pegged to headline UFC 103 in Dallas:

Damn. This is just feeble match-making. This fight gets neither fighter anywhere in their careers. The first fight was not exactly a barn-burner either.

I was thinking Friday that a Rich Franklin vs Tito Ortiz match would be one of those knock it out of the park surprise signings that Dana White and Joe Silva are known for. Instead we get this.

The worst part is I just bought tickets to see this event live. I’ll still go and I’ll still be excited, but Henderson vs Franklin 2 is a weak weak headliner.

Those who argue that the UFC is putting on too many events and stacking their big cards too deep have a case here.

Yep, if you’re gonna compare this to a potential Rich vs Tito fight then I suppose it is kinda disappointing. But holy shit people … this is still Rich Franklin vs Dan Henderson. While that ain’t gonna get us a single second of Sportscenter’s time, these two guys are still legends of the sport who’s first fight left us with more questions than answers. If you can’t appreciate it because hype-wise it’s a dud, then I think you’ve got your priorities fucked up.

I’m not usually one for being reasonable or anything, but let’s look at it this way: we all want supercards and we all want more UFC events. The price we pay for these things is an occassional card like UFC 103 that’s lacking a main event that causes premature ejaculation. If this was another New Jersey then I’d join y’all in taking a shit on the situation. But Dan vs Rich 2 is a solid rematch that needed to happen (and soon if Rich wants to leave the 195-pound division he lives in currently), and it’s on a solid card featuring Crocop vs Dos Santos, Swick vs Kampmann, and Koscheck vs Trigg. That really doesn’t suck at all.
