While Aleksander Emelianenko totally 100% cleared all suspicion that he had hepatitis from our minds with his Italian clinic paperwork, there’s one thing we don’t get. If he really is clean, why isn’t he fighting for bigger promotions? As it stands he’s a hot commodity in the Azerbaijan fight scene, but nowhere else. What gives?
Whatever does give, M-1 Global has added Aleks to a card that is taking place in a few days:
M-1 GLOBAL announces the full card for the mixed martial arts (MMA) event titled M-1 Challenge XXVIII: MAGOMED MALIKOV vs. ALEKSANDER EMELIANENKO. The bouts will take place at the “STARS” Sports Center in the city of Astrakhan and will air LIVE on PPV via Ustream http://www.ustream.tv/m1global on Saturday, November 12 with the FREE undercard streaming live on Facebook.
The main bout features Magomed Malikov (Highlander) 6-1 vs Aleksander Emelianenko (AE Tea) 17-4. The highly anticipated return of Fedor’s brother Alexander Emelianenko to M-1 ring has been the talk of the day. When M-1 Challenge Welterweight Champion Shamil Zavurov was forced to pull out of his title fight scheduled to headline the event, M-1 announced that Alexander Emelianenko had agreed to fill one half of the main event. Many felt the task of finding an opponent for Emelianenko could be a daunting one, after all, the event was 10 days away, and facing Alexander Emelianenko is no easy feat. Enter 6-1 Highlander team member Magomed Malikov.
While I’m not about to gush over the return of a potentially contagious fighter to the cage, I have to admit I do get a weird kick out of watching new youtube vidoes of Aleksander Emelianenko fighting. It’s a little bit like that time an AIDS’d out Tommy Morrison tried to get into the sport. It’s just so creepy and fascinating that stuff like this can happen. I guess when you compare it to other creepy things that probably happen in Astrakhan, Aleks barely makes a blip.
