After fighting a whopping one time in 2009, Aleksander Emelianenko finally returned to action at this weekend’s ProFC event in Moscow. While it’s unclear exactly how Aleks has been spending his time, the above video implies that he’s been practicing the dark arts, as his opponent Eddy Bengtsson succumbed to mind bullets sometime around the 40 second mark. Aleks, you keep knocking off guys like this and you’ll be back in the top ten in no time never.
Also returning to action this weekend was the infamous Drew Fickett. The former welterweight contender dropped eight of his past ten coming into Saturday’s CFX show, mainly due to his habit of getting excessively drunk at inappropriate times. Fickett must be doing something right because he choked out the very tough Derrick Noble in the second round, finally putting himself back in the win column after a five fight losing streak. This goes to show you, kids: you can be successful while also being a debilitating alcoholic.
Notables Dave Menne and Travis Fulton also picked up wins at the event, which saw veteran Travis Wiuff earn a split decision over former top ten heavyweight Jeff Monson in the main event. UFC castoff Brock Larson also posted his first win since being released from the organization following a 2-2 run.
