The saddest part of Vitor Belfort stepping up to face Jon Jones isn’t the fact that Jon kinda gets rewarded with an easier opponent for UFC 152, but that we won’t get to see Vitor Belfort vs Alan Belcher. Belcher has been on a tear since returning from a nearly career finishing partially detatched retina. And now he can add another terrifying injury to his collection:
“Everyone’s asking if I am mad at @Ufc @jonnybones @vitorbelfort answer is no.” Belcher wrote. “This is a blessing in disguise. I have a spinal fracture.”
“With that being said and with much respect I’d like @Chrisweidmanufc or another top 5 on my return in November. Thx for all the support”
A spinal fracture, huh? That doesn’t sound good at all. But note Belcher thinks he’ll be good to return in November, one month after his fight with Belfort was originally supposed to take place. That’s a bit fast, but Alan has never let a little something like, oh I dunno, possibly going blind stop him from continuing to fight. Why let a spinal fracture slow him down?
