1 Million Buys!

Whew, after the 150k buy disaster that was UFC 147, it’s nice to see the UFC pull off a nice buyrate for their superfight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen:

The show broke a number of UFC records, but not the big one. Early estimates have the show doing 1 million buys on PPV, which would put it in the same range as the Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez fight on October 21, 2010, and be the largest UFC number since that time.

Unfortunately, I bet Dana and the gang are pissed that their 1.6 million estimate was off. Expect the blame to fall on pirates, and the Inquisition to get worse.

I dunno. It may have been the UFC’s biggest UFC fight in UFC history ever of all time in history, but I remember Mike Goldberg telling me I had been waiting my entire life for Franklin-Hendo. Sometimes I wonder if he’s being completely honest with me.

  • the_beast says:

Well no wonder Chael has been so gracious in defeat, he probably just pulled in a mil or two.

    i fking hate goldberg

  • frickshun says:

I speculated this would hit a mil (for a shit card at that). Shows you that casual fans need “the big fight” & don’t understand how that has killed boxing.

  • Giallo says:

Really? Someones cooking the numbers cause I couldn’t think of one reason to buy this fucking piece of shit recycled card.

good thing i didnt stream this one
